Posted by Gary Baron on Tue, Mar 27, 2012 @ 09:45 AM

It used to be that wood was the ideal material from which to carve business signs. Versatile and easy to work with for those who know how, it dominated for hundreds of years. Monument Signs, Entrance Signs, all you need to know

Posted by Gary Baron on Fri, Mar 23, 2012 @ 03:27 PM

One of the most effective ways to market your business is to have easily recognizable, attractive, and informative monument signs. Located outside your building, these signs (also called architectural signs or entrance signs) not only announce your location to potential customers, but also create brand awareness that will help bring in new clientele.

Monument signs come in many different sizes, shapes, and designs. They often reflect the architectural style of the building or shopping center they are associated with. They may advertise multiple businesses, or just one major business. The signs that include multiple names may be bigger that those that include just one name, though the size also depends on the company logos included, how far away the sign is from the building, and how visible it needs to be. Some monument signs are painted, while others have information carved into their surface, and still others include changeable panels. Lighting of some sort is often included as part of monument signage. It may be located in the surrounding landscaping, or built directly into the sign itself. One of the most unique aspects of monument signage is design that allows it to blend in with its location while still being visible to customers. It is made to match the design of its surrounding area so that it appears as part of the scenery instead of sticking out in a garish manner.

Custom Police Car Graphics are as important as uniforms

Posted by Gary Baron on Fri, Feb 24, 2012 @ 11:34 AM

Police car graphics are an important item that must be on all police cars. Often times car graphics will include the city or country of the police jurisdiction, it may include the rank as in the case of a sheriff, and it should include the unit’s number.

Police car graphics are essential for many reasons.

For one, police car graphics provide another method of identification. The graphics must contain whether the police are part of a county, state or municipality. Further, each car must have an identification number. This ensures both the cops inside of the car’s safety as well as provides a way to identify which police are at the scene of a crime. By having that identification number, it’s another way to verify a crime report or identify a police car should one go missing.

Two, it provides the public a chance to identify police. While a siren, uniform and badge are extremely important, police car graphics provide another way for the public to locate an officer. This is especially the case if an emergency arises, as time is precious and in some cases, people may see the cop car’s graphics before they see the siren.

Lastly, it allows the community to know which cops to call in case of an emergency. By providing the proper car graphics, it shows what community or city the cop enforces the law. This becomes pivotal to residents who may not live within city limits. By knowing which cop cars regularly patrol the area, it provides them with whom to contact in case of an emergency.

Ultimately, police car graphics are essential components for each police car. They must show which jurisdiction they cover, a unit number and may include the rank of its hosts. By properly placing graphics on police cars it is another way the public can identify a car, it can ensure a cop’s safety in the event their car goes missing and it is another way residents can know which cops to call in case of an emergency.

Tips for Rental Property Management on signage

Posted by Gary Baron on Fri, Feb 24, 2012 @ 10:01 AM

The first consideration for creation of for lease signage is durability.  Rental properties are being marketed continually, and should therefore be of adequate quality to survive long periods of exposure to the elements.  Don’t let a cut-rate price turn your head for a short term solution to your long range needs.  Property signage experts can provide you with expert advice on quality and durability of this major purchase.

Another  factor is the specific size of the property signage.  Most areas have code that governs the maximum allowable size and also a maximum height.  If you don’t already know those specific codes, you need to research the topic.  Most residential covenants specify this information, but for commercial property, the zoning ordinances may contain the information, or you might also extract the information through your  official county government website.  You want the largest sign allowable to maximize visibility.  When marketing your property, you certainly don’t want to go to the expense and creative effort, only to receive a warning from the local zoning board demanding the sign’s removal.

Lobby Signs / Corporate Signs / Reception Area Signs, what makes a great sign

Posted by Gary Baron on Thu, Feb 23, 2012 @ 03:51 PM

Lobby signs are crucial for any business where the customers come to you. Lobby signs are the first thing that greets a potential customer. A good sign can speak volumes about your business and increase foot traffic whereas a poorly designed sign can lead to a bad first impression, one that may cost you that client’s business.

There are many tips on having a good lobby sign. For starters, the coloring for the sign needs to represent your brand image as well as separate you from your competition. You’ll want something that stands out but also integrates your brand logo well. The size of the lettering and of the actual sign is also pivotal components. This means you'll want lettering large enough to read and a sign that fits your space appropriately. The style of the lettering is also crucial, as you want to be able to make sure customers are able to read your sign from a good distance.

Location is another essential component. You want your sign to be visible from a distance, that way customers can find your business. Having a sign in a poor location makes it hard for customers to find you and this in turn can turn them away from your business.

The condition of your lobby sign is another key area. If the lettering is cracked or the colors have faded, not only does it make it more difficult for customers to find you, when they do it won't be a stellar first appearance. Having a well presented sign with crisp lettering and bold colors shows customers you care about your appearance, which will lead to more favorable first impressions.

The last component is information on the sign. It's important to make sure your brand logo and mission statements are current, if displayed. Further, by having the current hours of operation visible, customers will appreciate you took the time to inform them of your operating hours.

Ultimately, lobby signs greet your potential customers thereby giving them a first impression of your business. A well-designed sign shows customers the quality you put into your appearance and can help customers recognize your brand easily. Furthermore, a well-designed sign also leaves a better first impression and can increase foot traffic into your business.

Retail Signs, Point of Purchase Signs, get your customers' attention

Posted by Gary Baron on Thu, Feb 16, 2012 @ 11:08 AM

Point of purchase signage, also called POP, is one of the leading marketing tools that any retail seller can utilize. It is paramount to maximize this marketing medium to boost traffic and revenue. It makes sense to advertise right where customers are and point of purchase signs do just that.

The main advantages of using signs are:
  1. An affordable way that gives a quick return on the investment.
  2. POP signs add an increase in ascetics of the store.
  3. By directing customers to their needs and showing promotions, sales increase.
  4. An affordable way to increase impulse buying.
  5. Branding is easily accomplished on-site in a cost-effective way.

Higher margin products can receive increased attention with point of purchase signage. Using color and graphics on signs and displaying them near products that are higher cost will draw customers to those areas. This increases their exposure and leads to more sales. An impulse buy is much easier to accomplish using the signage as a marketing technique.

Retail signage, besides increasing impulse purchases, also establishes brand awareness. Creative and effective store signs will brand a store, even if it is not part of a franchise or big chain. It is more important in a small business to develop brand awareness that does not have the advantage of nationwide recognition. One of the simplest and inexpensive ways is through point of purchase signage. Consulting with a firm that provides these signs is a good first step in taking advantage of these advertising benefits.

Reasons to use POP signage are:
  1. Boosts storefront traffic as displays increase walk-ins.
  2. Signs with eye-catching designs will attract traffic.
  3. To draw attention to sales and specials to increase revenue.
  4. Longevity because point of purchase displays last long and can be re-used for long periods of time.
Retail signs are an invaluable tool not to be overlooked. So much is concentrated today on technology that the tried and true methods are often forgotten. Marketing and branding as well as catching and holding a customer's attention, in a cost-effective way, make point of purchase signage an absolute in retail stores. Consult with a signage company that is knowledgeable in this area that can advise on the best colors and graphics. Plan advertising campaigns, sales and specials with the company so the signage needed is ready for display at the proper times. Having a handle on a simple marketing campaign integrating POP signs will lead to higher traffic, more impulse buying, increased brand awareness, and increased sales. Make durable, flexible, well-designed signage a part of the campaign and see immediate results.
