LED vs Neon - what's the right decision

The signage that a business uses outside of their loLED lighted signscation is extremely important to success. Without a clear visible sign, your customers will have trouble identifying your business from the road. Though as you explore different sign options, you'll realize there are two different types of lighted signs, LED and neon. Which one should you choose? Definitely LED.

Initial Cost: The cost of LED signs generally run about 10 percent lower than their neon counterpart. Saving money on your business signs allows you to direct that money into other portions of your business.

Size and Weight: The size of LED signs run 1/3 to 1/5 the thickness of their neon counterparts. This might not seem like a big deal, but consider the fact that you've got to hang the sign outside your business. Not only will a larger sign be heavier, but aesthetically it may not look as pleasing to have a sign protruding so significantly from the building. Not to mention, because LED signs are lighter, the cost of shipping them from the manufacturer to your business is less.

Brightness: Ever drive by a business with a neon sign and notice that it is blurry from the road? Or even worse that in sunlight, it's hard to tell if a neon sign is lit? Well those two issues right there make an LED sign a more attractive choice. Better visibility and clarity allows your customers to more easily see the sign from the road.

Power Usage: With the cost of energy seemingly always on the rise, it is imperative for businesses to minimize that cost on their bottom line. Well using an LED sign will help bolster that bottom line because they use 1/6 of the energy that their neon counterparts soak-up.

Replacement Parts: Neon signs are made of tubes which are filled of neon. Eventually, this gas burns out and needs to be replaced. Additionally, tubes may crack or break because of inclement weather. LED lights do not have that problem because the sign is made up of many tiny lights. Therefore even if one or two break, the sign is still functional. Additionally, LED signs last up to 100,000, even if left on 24/7.

As you compare and contrast the positive and negatives associated with purchasing lighted signs for your business, it quickly becomes clear. LED signs are far superior in many respects to their neon counterparts.
