Who Qualifies for a New Sign Face?

Business owners with lightbox cabinets can take advantage of a new custom replacement sign face. These cabinets are typically made from aluminum with LED lights and a polycarbonate facing. When it is time to replace this facing, we can save you money on the project.

When is a Good Time to Replace Your Sign Face?

There are typically three reasons for a sign face replacement.

Sign Face Replacement

  1. Rebranding. Your company makes a change to its brand presentation. Examples include changes to the letter font, color palette, or logo. We work with your team to determine the best sizing of the style elements, fabricate the sign facing, and install it.
  2. Refacing. Of course, sometimes you need to replace the sign facing even if there has not been a change. Check on our lightbox cabinet. Are the colors fading? Does the laminate peel? It is time to invest in new sign faces.
  3. Business change. Another reason to replace a sign's facing is when an incoming business takes over a space still with signage from the previous tenant. If your predecessor invested in a lightbox cabinet, and you want to stay with this setup, we can make the changes necessary to display your branding.

Should a New Sign Face be Part of a Refurbishing?

Cabinet refurbishing refers to upgrades we make to the existing sign. When the product is still in good shape but needs a few touches, like a fresh coat of paint on the cabinet and a good cleaning, it is also an excellent time to put up a new sign face. The sign looks like new, even though you saved a bundle.

What is the Most Common Damage to Building Sign Faces?

If you have a lightbox cabinet, problems can occur through physical damage. A good example is the sign that gets hit by a branch during a storm. For the box cabinet that is part of a monument sign, vandalism is possible. Older cabinets still might illuminate with regular bulbs. They heat the acrylic or polycarbonate from the back, resulting in the laminates' slow burning.

How Can We Fix Damaged Sign Faces?

Physical damage is something that we best assess during a site survey. We look at the damage and determine if the cabinet part is still in good shape. We can continue with a simple sign refacing if it does not need replacing.

A refacing is typically necessary for sign faces that were vandalized with spray paint or marker. That said, we recommend investing in anti-graffiti laminate, making future sign face cleanup possible. If your sign has heat damage from the lighting setup, we suggest doing LED refurbishing, which lets us change how you light up the sign.
