The property management team overseeing Centennial Village needed a way to represent the condominium complex’s brand. Concurrently, the addition of signage had to fit in with the neighborhood’s overall curb appeal. Our technicians showed this client ways of doing both with customized condominium monument signs.
A Carved and Painted Sign Welcomes Residents and Guests
Instead of a traditional monument made from bricks or foam, this client preferred the quaint elegance of a post and panel sign. Our technicians took inspiration from the community’s small size to create a product that embraces the venue’s overall atmosphere.
We cut the composite material for the panel in an attractive shape. Next, we carved the community’s name and address numbers, as well as a whimsical decorative shape, into the material. The board’s base color is black, which our technicians selected to contrast with the white of the lettering and the posts.
Technicians filled the carved letters with matching white paint and added a laminate seal to the product. We then gilded the finials we placed on the posts. After mounting the panel, the resulting monument sign took on its attractive presentation, worked perfectly with the surrounding area, and brought elegance to the venue.
Choosing the Perfect Monument Sign
Do you ever wonder what goes into the design of a monument sign? It is now a common sight at company entrances and malls. However, each sign looks different and has various style elements that you may not see on the following product. There are some ways that designing a sign can lead to an ideal product presentation.
- The simplicity of the design. Apply decorative touches sparingly. It is tempting to add faux lumber, river stones, three-dimensional letters, and stucco, but monument signs do better with a minimalist approach. Choose one decorative element. For this client, there was a set of gilded finials.
- Visibility. The monument sign typically goes near the roadway. There, it alerts visitors to your location. As a general rule of thumb, the lettering has to be sufficiently tall to allow someone from 100 feet away to read the information. Moreover, the contrast between background and letters has to be on point to boost visibility. Most importantly, work with our team on the angle of the setup. It does make a difference.
- Illumination. Built-in lighting is not always a necessity. Sometimes, you can get away with not having any lights. Other times, there is the option of adding a landscape light later on. That said, have our office staff check the zoning rules in your area to make sure you follow the rules regarding any type of sign illumination.
