The Sign Center team recently had a chance to work with the friendly staff from the Wild Birds Unlimited nature shop at 2520 Highway 22 East. This store is your go-to for everything from birdhouses to feeders and food. When the company changed its logo and needed to update its building marker, the management team contacted us to put a new sign face on the cabinet sign in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Polycarbonate Creates a Durable Solution for a New Brand Display
Our technicians worked with the client to receive the new specs. The original cabinet sign’s facing was made with two pieces of acrylic. However, we were able to manufacture an 18-foot-long section in one piece of shatter-resistant polycarbonate. It looks fantastic, eliminates the seam, and lights up beautifully after dark. Now, customers easily find the store and use the building sign as a wayfinding tool.
Taking Advantage of New Sign-Making Technologies to Upgrade Building Signs
Whereas in the past, two nine-feet sections of acrylic were the best option, today’s advances in sign-making technology allow for the installation of one continuous piece of polycarbonate. Of course, there are additional advances that you might not be aware of.
- LED lighting. In the past, neon lights dominated signage illumination. However, they were expensive and broke quickly. Today, we use LEDs. They last for a long time, are inexpensive, and are even cheap to run. The Sign Center offers retrofits for existing neon signs.
- Direct imprints. Imprinted vinyl overlays are a popular way of transferring your corporate persona and color palette to anything from metal to PVC. That said, it is no longer your only option. We can directly imprint flat materials with your information, which saves you the cost of having us do the laminate work.
- Refurbishing instead of replacements. There used to be a big push toward replacing signs. However, now clients are looking for ways to repurpose their signage elements. Examples include monument signs and lightbox cabinets. In addition to being a sustainable way of featuring your corporate persona, this step could save you quite a bit of money.
We Specialize in Helping Companies Rebrand Inside and Outside
Signage is an integral aspect of publicizing the updates whenever you make changes to your branding. The majority of clients opt to go from the outside in, which means that they first change the building signs and window graphics. Afterward, they move inward and change lobby signage and point-of-sale signs. Of course, we can reverse the process or even tackle the project all at once.
