An effective vehicle wrap design transforms your fleet vans, cars, or trucks into eye candy with a solid branding or marketing message. We asked our graphic artist to explain how to design vehicle wraps that get attention.
Case Study: Saint Peter's University
Earlier, we wrapped a bus for the school's STEM Engagement & Empowerment Center. We discussed the project in a prior blog. This time, we want to highlight the vehicle wrap design elements. Notice that there are four distinct pieces in play.
- Brand elements.
- Name mentions.
- Contact details.
- Attention getters.
Brand Elements Allow for Artistry
At the heart of the message is empowerment symbolism. Prospective students understand STEM. However, the school was looking to make the connection between the program and empowering learners. The artwork we used for the graphics combines images that learners associate with empowerment. We complemented these images with graphics related to the STEM disciplines.
Featuring the Names You Want Consumers to Notice
Notice that we are featuring two names on this wrap. One is Saint Peter's University. We placed it at the front of the vehicle with its original brand colors. From there, we used gradient color changes to switch to the STEM center. Using both names helps to connect the organizations.
Contact Details Vary Depending on Your Needs
This client opted for a QR code. Going this route is an excellent option when you know that most customers will have a smartphone. However, if your targeted consumer group may not fall into this category, adding a phone number, website address, or email address makes sense.
Attention-Getters Are the Little Extras That You Cannot Put Your Finger On
One of the most apparent attention-getters of this wrap is the gradient color change. The transition from black to medium blue is not immediate. We morphed the colors, which draws the eye. Moreover, we added a couple of STEM graphics to the vehicle area reserved for the school's professional presentation. It creates an interesting dichotomy that is not lost on onlookers.
Putting it All Together: How to Design Vehicle Wraps for Your Company
Let's put this all together for your company. The first question to consider is what your wrap is supposed to do. Do you want it to advertise your company, brand the business, or underscore your program or product? Next, we add the company's name. It is a good idea to use the same font and color palette as customers see on your website whenever possible.
Choose the contact methods that apply to your customer demographic. Finally, work with the team on putting together attention-getters. For some, this means adding a splash of color. For others, it means incorporating a tagline.
