Do Police Cars Need Graphics?

police vehicle graphicsState and county laws mandate the use of markings on most law enforcement vehicles, which is why police cars need graphics. Police car decals vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction in appearance and content. Some graphics contain just the name of the department, while others include logos, emergency phone numbers, and even website links. Police car graphics are usually the last item added to the vehicle before it enters the field. To this end, vehicle graphics are usually made from reflective vinyl in a peel-and-stick format. Once the graphic is applied to the car, it becomes a ready-to-use police vehicle. Obviously undercover vehicles usually do not have graphics. The identifying of a vehicle is a reassurance to the public that there are police in the area and also as a marker to identify that they vehicle is a police vehicle. We have also applied graphics to the roof of a police vehicle so they can be identified from the air if they are in pursuit.
