The Challenge

After 36 years building trust in New Providence, Ferdinand Jewelers was relocating to a new storefront on South Street — and the signage had to do two jobs at once: clearly announce the move to loyal customers, and confidently introduce the brand at its new address.

For a jeweler, the storefront also had to feel refined and high-end while staying easy to spot and read — all within New Providence’s specific storefront-signage requirements.

The Solution

The Sign Center delivered a complete, coordinated signage program — from temporary relocation messaging through permanent storefront branding and wayfinding — with permitting managed throughout.

Phase 1 — Relocation messaging

High-visibility temporary coroplast signs with “Coming Soon” and “We’re Moving” messaging kept long-time customers informed and built anticipation, so a 36-year brand stayed connected to its community through the move.

Phase 2 — Storefront signage

Metallic gold dimensional letters gave the South Street storefront depth and a premium presence, the finish catching daylight for an elevated look that stays easy to read. A custom carved blade sign added classic Main Street presence for pedestrian traffic. Behind the scenes we navigated New Providence permitting — adjusting the blade sign scale to meet code while preserving the intended look — and recommended switching the planned gold door vinyl to white for stronger contrast on glass, keeping store hours and entry details easy to read from the sidewalk.

Phase 3 — Wayfinding

A custom two-sided post & panel directional sign in durable painted aluminum, accented with matching gold vinyl, guided customers to the rear entrance — creating a cohesive brand trail from the street to the door, carefully placed for sidewalk safety and compliance.

The Outcome

The result was a seamless relocation: loyal customers followed the move, and the new South Street storefront gained an elevated, unmistakably-Ferdinand presence — temporary messaging, permanent branding, wayfinding, and permit coordination all working together.

It is the kind of transition that protects a legacy brand through a major change while sharpening its presence in a new location.
