What are Channel Letters?

Custom channel letters come in two basic types: front-lit and reverse-lit. Fabricated with an aluminum body, we add polycarbonate or acrylic faces to the front or back, depending on where the light should come from. Until now, the front-lit channel letter building sign has been the most popular option. However, backlit channel letters are now growing in popularity.

Reverse-Lit Channel Letters Bring a Touch of Elegance to Your Location

Because the light escapes through the back of each letter, the illumination bathes the individual style elements in a halo of light. We can control the halo's strength by altering the distance that each letter is mounted away from the wall. Rear-lit channel letters are now the ideal solution for the company that incorporates elegance and sophistication into its brand story.

So, What is a Reverse Pan Channel Building Sign?

A pan channel letter is manufactured using aluminum or plastic that we shape into the letter fonts you are looking for. Each letter contains LEDs. While the front is usually painted in the corporate color palette, the back is closed with a transparent sheet of acrylic or polycarbonate to allow the light to escape.

When we install these channel letters, we use standoffs to create distance between the letter and the wall. Generally speaking, 1.5 inches is an ideal distance to allow for the halo of light to surround the letters. Some clients prefer to have reverse pan channel letters mounted to a panel. Moreover, although the white halo is typical, colorful LEDs can be used to add brand-centric hues to the mix.

What is the Difference Between a Reverse Pan Channel Letter and a Pan Face Sign?

The pan face sign is also made of aluminum. However, the sign is thin, much like a box cabinet. Since it does not have built-in LEDs, the pan face sign is ideal for facades with independent light sources already in place. Most importantly, a pan face sign is a panel that displays your company's information via imprint or embossed display.
