What is an Aluminum Pan Face Sign, and Why Do You Need One?

Posted by Gary Baron on Tue, Apr 11, 2023 @ 01:59 PM

As we have done over the last few months, we were back at a location for Summit Health. For this project, our shop designed, produced, and installed an aluminum pan face sign for each side of the building. Our technicians custom-painted the logo. After mounting the signs, visitors can see them easily from the roadway, which is quite a distance away. Would a pan face sign be right for you?

What are Pan Face Signs?

An aluminum pan face sign is a popular product in and around Berkeley Heights, Roseland, Summit, and surrounding areas. We start its production with a sheet of aluminum and 90-degree corners. Sides are typically an inch or two deep. Aluminum is a popular selection because it resists the weather, will not rust, and is not attacked by insects. Another advantage of a pan face sign is its suitability for a flush mount without visible screws or other fasteners.

Pan Face Signs are Fully Customizable

Our client selected a rectangular design with a white backdrop and deep blue lettering. For the logo, we used the brand-centric red color. That said, there are quite a few other options as well.

  • Shape. The box shape is the most frequently selected option. However, it is not the only voice. Other clients have had excellent success with round or oval shapes.
  • Corners. Crisp, 90-degree corners look fantastic. But our technicians will manufacture the sign with rounded corners if you prefer. Depending on your brand requirements, the softened silhouette could be ideal.
  • Message. Of course, the most important aspect is what goes on the sign’s front. We can paint the front, apply imprinted vinyl, or directly print the needed graphics and lettering onto the material. We usually recommend printed vinyl for gradient color changes, which are becoming more popular.

Embossed Facings vs. Flat Fronts

One of a pan-face sign’s hallmarks is the embossed front. You cannot go wrong with this option for a dual three-dimensional display. The embossed parts underscore the message when painted with your corporate color palette. On the other end of the spectrum is the flat front. A third choice is the combination of flat and embossed portions. For example, why not highlight your company’s logo with an embossed rendition while printing the business name on the flat part?

Where Can You Use an Aluminum Pan Face Sign?

For Summit Health, a pan face sign was the ideal display to place as a building sign on the facade. Other clients have requested embossed pan face products for monument signs and reader boards. Taking advantage of the three-dimensional design makes sense in the product that will be placed next to the roadway where passersby immediately see it.
