Halo Lit Letters Combine Illumination and Elegance

Channel letters are three-dimensional signage solutions that allow for built-in illumination. Front-lit letters still make up the majority of orders, but reverse-lit, or halo-lit letters, are quickly catching up. With the fronts of the letters opaque, the backs are covered with translucent acrylic, which allows light to shine on the mounting wall. QE Solar liked this look, and our team got to work. We fabricated the channel letters using aluminum. Next, we painted the letters in the company's blue colors. After adding the LEDs for illumination, our installers mounted the letters with standoffs that allow for the light to reflect off the wall. We controlled the extent of the halo with the distance between the wall and the letters. The finished product is a brand-centric method for advertising the company's location and looks great.

Channel Letters or 3D Building Letters? Which is Right for Your Business?

Both types of building signs offer a three-dimensional display. However, there are two significant differences. For starters, channel letters have a much more pronounced depth than standard building letters, typically offering a quarter or three-quarters inches in thickness. Secondly, and frequently the deciding factor for our clients, there is illumination. Channel letters have LEDs built in, but standard three-dimensional building letters do not. Depending on your hours of operation and available facade lighting, illumination is typically the deciding factor.
