Berkeley Heights Public Library Lobby Sign Greets Members and Visitors

Locals visit the Berkeley Heights Public Library at 29 Park Avenue not just for the books. There are also story times for younger children, cooking information, and live entertainment for older kids. Recently, our shop had the opportunity to custom-make a dimensional Berkeley Heights Public Library lobby sign that we placed at the entrance.

Layering Techniques Combine with Multiple Materials for a Unique Wayfinding Sign

The library already has a well-defined logo that underscores the availability of books as well as access to Wi-Fi. Because the sign was to be equal parts wayfinding and eye candy, we suggested the layering of the elements as well as the use of several materials.

The client liked the idea, and we began the sign fabrication by cutting a rectangular board of acrylic that was treated with vinyl for a frosted look. The next step was the design and production of three-dimensional letters. We cut the log portion from acrylic and painted the elements in the range of tones that the library features on its website.

For the lettering that identifies the venue, we used brushed aluminum letters. It continues the great looks of the 3D lettering but has a different appearance. While the painted element is matte, the brushed metal reflects some light. It creates a visual counterpoint to the frosted acrylic board. The last step was the installation with brushed aluminum standoffs.

3D Letters Offer Superior Wayfinding Functionality

It makes sense that clients love the great look of three-dimensional letters.

  • Full customization. Which material is best suited to encapsulate your brand message? We routinely work with metals, acrylic, Gatorfoam, and PVC. We can paint the letters using your corporate color palette or boost elegance with a faux metallic finish, aged patina, or the application of overlays.
  • Installation options. Many clients ask us to mount their 3D letters directly to a wall. However, we can also install them to a logo board, as we did for the Berkeley Heights Public Library lobby sign, or against the backdrop of a printed vinyl backing.
  • Sizing choices. How tall should the letters be? It depends on the distance that consumers will travel before seeing your signage. Besides that, remember that traffic speed in front of your location affects the sizing requirements. We can help you with these calculations when choosing three-dimensional letters for a building sign.

Other Lobby Signs for Offices, Storefronts, and Municipal Buildings

If you are uncertain that you want to go with 3D letters, consider the installation of a logo board. Although we usually manufacture a rectangular product, we can customize the shape to reflect your logo or any other aspect of your brand story. Another attractive alternative is the installation of blade signs. These install perpendicular to the wall and may feature illumination.

Free-hanging blade signs install with chains or airplane cables from the ceiling for an elegant look. We can adjust the installation height to make the signage highly visible and even integrate it into your interior decor setup. Call our shop today to learn more about your options!
