The Sunday Motor Co. Café does business at 27 Kings Road. Previously a '50s gas station, the owners turned it into a delightful café serving up herbed avocado toast and goat cheese croissants (among other dishes). When it came time to advertise and brand with retro restaurant signs in Madison, NJ, the management team called The Sign Center to assist with the project.
Painted Acrylic Letters Set the Tone for an Innovative Eatery
The client already had a pylon sign on the premises. Because the company has such as unique font presentation that actively courts the vintage appeal, it was crucial that we would maintain the retro look and feel of the corporate persona. We did so with the help of acrylic, three-dimensional letters.
Cutting them at a thickness of a half-inch, we imitated the font's curvatures. Moreover, we painted the lettering in the black color that the eatery adopted as its online presence. Next, our technicians prepared the old gas station sign for the installation of the 3D letters. They are illuminated with a pylon-mounted lamp.
Next, we placed similar letters on the restaurant's façade. They fit perfectly with the white and black color scheme that creates a strong brand presence. With the signage now in place, it is easy for hungry guests to locate the retrofitted gas station that is now a coffee bar and more.
The Sign Center Specializes in the Design, Fabrication, and Installation of Retro Signs
You do not have to do business in a retrofitted gas station to appreciate the ambiance and brand story a retro sign brings to the façade or property. Our technicians routinely work with companies looking to preserve some of their corporate histories in their sign designs.
What are your options?
- Palladio signs. You know these signs from displays on poles or facades. The top's ornamentation hearkens back to include Art Deco style elements. Consider using Dibond or aluminum that we treat with an imprinted vinyl overlay to feature your message.
- Mid-century modern color plays. Another option is for the company that traces its history back to the mid-century. At that time, teal, avocado green, and yellow were favorite tones. We can customize the color play of that era to accommodate your brand message.
- Old-world charm. Metal plaques are ideally suited for the old-world appeal you might be looking for. Cast metal looks fantastic, allows for 3D displays, and can be mounted to the façade with ease.
- Wall wraps. Do you remember the signage on the sides of the old brick buildings? They would show off a company's name and logo along with an elaborate printed frame. Our technicians can recreate this look for your facility, too.
