Some time ago, our team assisted Summit Oaks Hospital with a mixed-material lobby sign. It consisted of digitally printed vinyl graphics combined with three-dimensional lettering. When the client contacted us recently, they needed additional mixed-media lobby signs for the facility’s second-floor lobby.
Mixed Media Results in Eye-Catching Signs for the Reception Area
For this project, the client wanted signage that looked as good as the lobby sign we did initially. However, for the second floor, the signage would add another material to the mix: acrylic. We began the project by cutting an acrylic panel into the desired size for the location. After applying frosted vinyl to the back, we added the digitally printed logo portions to the front.
Once again, the lettering was created with 3D letters. For the installation, our technicians used brushed aluminum standoffs that create a slight shadow play for the sign. Combining the various materials results in a contemporary display ideally suited for the hospital’s lobby.
Best Material Combinations for Your Lobby Signage
We have previously discussed that wood, metals, acrylic, and plastic easily combine to create fully customized signage products for your business. But how do you select the right combination for your brand? The trick here is to take the cue from your brand’s character.
For example, if you want to underscore that your company is on the cutting edge of its field, the combination of acrylic and stainless steel is ideal. The polished metal clearly signals a modern approach, while the acrylic focuses on the creativity behind the brand’s thought leadership.
Of course, sometimes, it is the simplicity of the design that impresses with elegance. A case in point is a frosted acrylic lobby sign with printed vinyl lettering. Sleek lines and crisp letter edges demand attention. Concurrently, the unusual design makes for a memorable first impression as visitors enter the lobby.
