Monument Signs, Entrance SignsOne of the most effective ways to market your business is to have easily recognizable, attractive, and informative monument signs. Located outside your building, these signs (also called architectural signs or entrance signs) not only announce your location to potential customers, but also create brand awareness that will help bring in new clientele.

Monument signs come in many different sizes, shapes, and designs. They often reflect the architectural style of the building or shopping center they are associated with. They may advertise multiple businesses, or just one major business. The signs that include multiple names may be bigger that those that include just one name, though the size also depends on the company logos included, how far away the sign is from the building, and how visible it needs to be. Some monument signs are painted, while others have information carved into their surface, and still others include changeable panels. Lighting of some sort is often included as part of monument signage. It may be located in the surrounding landscaping, or built directly into the sign itself. One of the most unique aspects of monument signage is design that allows it to blend in with its location while still being visible to customers. It is made to match the design of its surrounding area so that it appears as part of the scenery instead of sticking out in a garish manner.

While some monument signs will be located directly in front of a building, at other times it may be located at the entrance to a parking lot, above a shopping center, or on the sidewalk leading up to a building. Businesses located on large amounts of land may have monument signs at the head of their driveway as well as up close to the building. No matter where they are, these signs help alert customers to a business's location as well as direct them how to get there. But they are not the only important type of signage a business might use to direct customers where they need to go.

Wayfinding systems including a series of lobby signs, hall signs, and directory signs in order to alert customers where they need to go inside a building. They are done in the same color scheme as the building decor and include information such as arrows pointing in the direction of certain places so customers know which direction they need to be traveling in the building. Directories often will have business names, people's names, suite numbers, floor numbers, and maps with highlighted areas. Customers can use this information to figure out where in a building they need to go. Hall signs will then direct them to the left or right if there are long hallways and multiple offices located down each one.
